Priyadarshan Defends 'Dhurandhar' Against Propaganda Claims

Veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan has strongly defended 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' amidst claims that it is propaganda. He highlighted the film's significant box office success, reportedly surpassing ₹1,200 crore worldwide, as clear evidence of public approval. Priyadarshan asserted that the film presents truth and that its acceptance by the majority of India validates its quality.

He recounted the directorial journey of Aditya Dhar, recalling Dhar's past discouragement over uncredited script usage. Priyadarshan expressed immense pride in Dhar's current achievements, stating that seeing one's disciples succeed brings unparalleled joy. He dismissed the notion of propaganda, emphasizing that a film watched and accepted by millions cannot be dismissed by a few dissenting voices.

Priyadarshan’s remarks follow recent online debates, potentially sparked by filmmaker Vetrimaaran's comments on "hate propaganda" films. 'Dhurandhar,' starring Ranveer Singh and directed by Aditya Dhar, is set in Karachi and focuses on an Indian spy's mission against a terror network.

Meanwhile, Priyadarshan is preparing to release his upcoming horror-comedy 'Bhooth Bangla' on April 10, 2026, starring Akshay Kumar. He also has another project, 'Haiwaan,' in development.
