- Priyadarshan clarified his remark, stating he meant awareness, not formal schooling.

Filmmaker Priyadarshan has issued a clarification regarding his recent comments about actor Rajpal Yadav's educational background. This comes after Yadav publicly responded to Priyadarshan's earlier remarks, which suggested his financial difficulties stemmed from 'poor education.'
Priyadarshan stated that his comments were misinterpreted. He clarified that he was referring to a broader sense of education, encompassing awareness and street-smartness, rather than formal academic qualifications. He noted that Yadav, coming from a village, might possess a natural innocence.
The discussion follows Rajpal Yadav's surrender at Tihar Jail in February 2026, in connection with a long-standing cheque bounce case involving about Rs 9 crores. The case dates back to a loan taken in 2010 for his directorial debut, which failed at the box office.
Priyadarshan's clarification aims to address the stir caused by his remarks, emphasizing his intention was not to insult Yadav, whom he described as a good soul. The filmmaker's upcoming movie, 'Bhooth Bangla,' starring Akshay Kumar, is set for release on April 10, 2026.
