Nearly 43 years after her tragic death, a rare interview with Princess Grace of Monaco has resurfaced, offering a glimpse into the final months of her life. In April 1982, just five months before a car accident claimed her life at the age of 52, the former Hollywood actress sat down with PEOPLE magazine to discuss her decision to leave the big screen for a life in the royal family.

Kelly, who had won an Oscar for her role in The Country Girl, made it clear she had no regrets about her choice, stating, "I don't look back. I haven't had the time. I haven't retired, you know." The princess also dismissed the notion that her life had been less fulfilling since marrying Prince Rainier III of Monaco in 1956, saying, "Rather the reverse. For me as a woman, it was an easy decision to make and has remained easy to keep."
