Summary
- Prince Harry redirected memorial funds from Sentebale to Elephants Without Borders.
- A dispute at Sentebale led to Harry and Prince Seeiso stepping down as patrons.
- Elephants Without Borders has a two-decade connection to Prince Harry.

Prince Harry has reportedly redirected his portion of the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund income from Sentebale to Elephants Without Borders. This shift occurred after a significant public dispute at Sentebale, a charity co-founded by Harry and Prince Seeiso in memory of their mothers. In 2025, Harry and Seeiso stepped down as patrons, along with several trustees, due to an internal conflict involving the former chair. The Charity Commission later identified governance weaknesses and criticized the handling of the dispute.
Previously, Harry directed his share of the Diana fund proceeds to Sentebale, which supports vulnerable children in southern Africa. Between 2020 and 2024, Sentebale received £43,866 from his share, with the last payment amounting to £16,743 in 2024. However, in 2025, Harry's share of approximately £5,432 was donated to Elephants Without Borders, as per his request to direct his portion to a charity of his choice.
The new recipient, Elephants Without Borders, is a conservation group based in Botswana. This choice appears deeply linked to Prince Harry's personal history with Botswana and his long-standing relationship with the charity's founder, Dr. Mike Chase, with whom he has collaborated on elephant conservation projects for over two decades. The Diana Memorial Fund, established after Princess Diana's 1997 death, closed in 2012, with remaining assets managed by The Royal Foundation.
