Prince Harry's spokesperson has issued a clarification regarding comments made by the Duke of Sussex in a recent interview. In the interview, filmed in September and released on October 20, Harry discussed his "complicated relationship" with his family, noting that family rifts are a "massively relatable issue."
During the interview, Harry stated, "And some people don't want it to work out. I want it to work out." His spokesperson later clarified that this remark was "absolutely not intended as a swipe at his brother or any other member of his family" and was made in a general context.
The Duke of Sussex also stressed the importance of reconciliation, saying, "With everything else that's going on in the world, the most important thing is to reconcile. That's the key point." This comes amidst ongoing tensions exposed since Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back as working royals in 2020.
While a source indicates Harry's relationship with his father, King Charles, is "better," his bond with Prince William remains distant with "no contact." Those close to William and Kate Middleton suggest the wounds of estrangement are deep, making William cautious. However, King Charles reunited with Harry, Meghan, and their children in July and has spoken with Harry since then.
Russell Myers, author of "William and Catherine," stated that Prince William's view is that any relationship his father has with Harry is up to him, but William himself will have "no relationship with them, in a working or private capacity whatsoever." Harry previously expressed a desire for peace, stating in a 2025 interview, "I would love reconciliation with my family. There's no point in continuing to fight anymore."
