This year's invitation kit for President Droupadi Murmu's Independence Day At Home celebration highlights the rich artistic traditions of India. Nearly 50 artisans from Chhattisgarh, including many from the Bastar region, collaborated with 130 artisans in total to create this unique, handmade kit.
The invitation ensemble showcases the diverse crafts and cultural heritage of Chhattisgarh, Goa, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh. Conceptualized in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, it reflects India's dedication to sustainability, inclusivity, and cultural preservation through eco-friendly materials and traditional techniques.
Art forms featured include Dhokra casting and wrought iron Pitwa craft from Chhattisgarh, Azulejo tile painting representing Goa's Khazan lands, Warli painting illustrating the restoration of Maharashtra's Kham River, and Bhil artwork from Madhya Pradesh highlighting community-led seed preservation.
The kit also includes a specially designed Maheshwari stole, handwoven in Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh, which blends motifs from the textile traditions of all four featured states. This collaborative effort celebrates age-old wisdom and empowers traditional artisan communities.
