Predator Franchise Revived: Schwarzenegger's Possible Return Teased

The Predator franchise is currently experiencing a renaissance, with the series becoming more popular and successful than it has been since the release of the original film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Many fans have long hoped to see Schwarzenegger reprise his role as Dutch, and while nothing is officially confirmed, the franchise's current custodian, Dan Trachtenberg, indicates that such a return may be possible.

Trachtenberg has already demonstrated his ability to revitalize the Predator franchise, first with the excellent Prey and then with the animated anthology film Predator: Killer of Killers. The latter movie significantly expanded the Predator lore, revealing that both Dutch from the first film and Prey's Naru had been captured by the Predators and kept in stasis.

This revelation has certainly opened the door for a potential return of Dutch to the franchise. Trachtenberg has confirmed that he has discussed the "many possibilities" regarding the future of the Predator series with Schwarzenegger, hinting that a comeback for the iconic character may be in the works.

Trachtenberg's next project in the Predator universe will be Predator: Badlands, which will feature one of the titular aliens as the hero of the story. Beyond that, the director's plans for the franchise remain uncertain, but it seems clear that he is committed to staying in the world of Predator and may potentially include a return for the franchise's original hero, Dutch.
