Acclaimed Indian singer-songwriter Prateek Kuhad is stepping into the spotlight as an actor for the first time in the feature film "Drowning." Known for his hit song "Cold/Mess," Kuhad will play Tarush, a musician in Delhi whose career is threatened by a criminal record label boss.
The film, directed by Dar Gai, is being produced by Marginal MediaWorks in partnership with Los Angeles-based D36 and Mumbai-based Jugaad Motion Pictures. Dar Gai, who previously directed the music video for Kuhad's "Cold/Mess," described the project as a blend of contemporary Delhi's music scene with influences from the Safdie brothers, John Carney, and Lars von Trier.
"Drowning" is a significant venture for Marginal MediaWorks as it marks their first fiction feature produced in South Asia. This initiative is part of a broader international expansion strategy for the company, aiming to capitalize on the growing cultural influence and market potential of South Asia on a global scale.
