POV Shorts Moves to Time Studios YouTube

The acclaimed PBS series "POV Shorts," dedicated to independent short-form documentaries, is relocating its Season 9 broadcasts to Time Studios' YouTube channel. This new season is set to premiere on November 17. The launch will feature "Bloodlines, Mississippi" by director Crystal Kayiza and "The Boys and the Bees" by director Arielle Knight.

Following the initial broadcast of these two films on PBS, the remainder of Season 9's content will be exclusively available on Time Studios' platform. This includes a diverse array of films such as "Hold Me Close," "Tessitura," "In the Morning Sun," "Artificial Love," "Buckskin," "Still Standing," "Who Loves the Sun," and "A Derailment."

Remarkably, six films from this season have earned eligibility for Oscar consideration in the documentary short film category. These acclaimed works underscore the quality and impact of the short-form documentaries featured in the series. "POV Shorts" has a history of success, having won multiple IDA Documentary Awards and securing Academy Award nominations since its inception in 2018.

This collaboration with Time Studios is expected to significantly broaden the reach of these compelling stories. The partnership aims to connect with audiences who might not actively search for independent documentaries, aligning with the series' long-standing mission to foster new perspectives. The executive producer noted that Season 9 explores themes of community resilience when systems fail, offering diverse viewpoints through the unique lens of short-form filmmaking.
