On October 23, 2025, pop artist Slayyyter, 29, took the stage at Grindr's Pleasure Ball in New York City to debut her latest single "CRANK" in front of a predominantly LGBTQ+ crowd. Slayyyter says the queer-centric event was the perfect setting for her music, which has resonated deeply with the LGBTQ+ community since she first hit the scene in 2018.
"I feel like that is the space where my music lives and thrives, and I feel grateful to always perform in those spaces," Slayyyter tells PEOPLE after the event. She recalls having to forgo her planned antler headpiece due to a migraine, but ultimately embraced the opportunity to showcase the song in front of a large phallic statue on stage.
Slayyyter's connection with the LGBTQ+ community has been organic, not something she ever "pandered to or shot for." The artist, who spent her teenage years bonding with gay friends over pop music, believes queer spaces are the "true appreciators of pop music." This mutual appreciation has led to Slayyyter's success, with hits like "Daddy AF" and "Miss Belladonna" resonating strongly with her LGBTQ+ fanbase.
The Grindr Pleasure Ball performance marked a significant milestone for Slayyyter, as it kicked off a new era for the artist following her recent signing with Columbia's RECORDS imprint earlier this year. Her latest singles "BEAT UP CHANEL$," "CANNIBALISM!," and "CRANK" showcase the diverse sonic palette she plans to explore on her upcoming third full-length album.
