The political thriller, "<headline>", directed by Tarik Saleh, will begin its theatrical release on April 17 in select cinemas, including New York's Quad, with a national rollout to follow. The film stars Fares Fares as George Fahmy, Egypt's most celebrated movie star.
Fahmy is pressured by the country's highest authorities to accept a role in a government-backed prestige film. Reluctantly agreeing, he finds himself drawn into the inner sanctum of political power. His involvement deepens as he begins a dangerous affair with the general's mysterious wife, becoming ensnared in a complex web of desire, loyalty, and cinematic illusion.
The film, which premiered in Competition at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, has garnered critical acclaim. It received a record-breaking eleven Swedish Guldbagge nominations, ultimately winning six awards, including Best Film, Best Male Actor, and Best Screenplay. This marks Saleh's third film exploring political control, following "The Nile Hilton Incident" and "Cairo Conspiracy."
