PM Modi Honors Lata Mangeshkar's Enduring Musical Legacy

The Prime Minister recalled his first meeting with the legendary vocalist, introduced to him by the renowned Marathi musician Sudhir Phadke. Modi expressed his admiration for Mangeshkar's patriotic songs, which he said "inspired people" and reflected her deep connection to Indian culture. He also spoke about her close association with the freedom fighter Veer Savarkar, whom she affectionately called "Tatya."

Lata Mangeshkar, who passed away in February 2022 at the age of 92, is celebrated as a true icon of Indian music. Spanning over seven decades, she recorded more than 30,000 songs in over 36 languages, leaving an indelible mark on the country's cultural landscape.
