Summary
- A County Durham pipe band was saved from disbandment by one member.
- The band's membership grew from three to forty people.
- A former Royal Piper joined the revitalized band.

The Newton Aycliffe Pipe Band, once facing imminent closure, has achieved a significant revival.
In 2019, the band had dwindled to just three members, with disbandment a distinct possibility at their annual general meeting. However, Bill Farrell stepped in as pipe major, initiating a dedicated effort to rebuild the ensemble.
Farrell's leadership successfully increased membership to 40 individuals. This renewed vigor attracted Paul Burns, who previously performed for King Charles III and Queen Elizabeth II, marking a triumphant comeback for the County Durham-based group.
