In a tragic but dignified end, pioneering television writer Myatt chose to end her life peacefully in Basel, Switzerland, on September 23rd, 2025 - her 60th birthday. Myatt had been diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment in 2021 and later with Alzheimer's disease in 2023.
Myatt had a distinguished career in the television industry, breaking barriers as the only female writer on the staff of the 1992-93 political comedy "The Powers That Be." She later went on to launch and serve as a co-executive producer, showrunner, writer, and director on the first two seasons of Nickelodeon's "South of Nowhere" in 2005-2006. Myatt also wrote for the final two seasons of the long-running NBC series "Night Court," including the series finale.
Throughout her career, Myatt continued to leave her mark, writing and producing for shows like "The 5 Mrs. Buchanans," "Living Single," and the Disney animated series "Recess," "Lloyd in Space," and "Teacher's Pet," for which she won a Daytime Emmy in 2001. Her legacy as a trailblazing female writer in the industry will not be forgotten.
