Summary
- PGA Awards for 2027 and 2028 are scheduled for Feb 27 and Feb 19.
- Past PGA film winners since 2020 have all won the best picture Oscar.
- The PGA represents over 8,400 members across film, television, and media.
The Producers Guild of America (PGA) has finalized the dates for its upcoming awards ceremonies. The 38th annual PGA Awards will take place on Saturday, February 27, 2027, followed by the 39th ceremony on Saturday, February 19, 2028. These dates are significant as they fall during the final Oscar voting period, highlighting the PGA Awards' crucial role in the industry's awards season.
Historically, the PGA Awards have been a strong predictor of Oscar success. Every film that has won the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures since 2020 has subsequently won the Academy Award for best picture. This trend underscores the guild's influence in identifying potential Oscar contenders.
The PGA, a prominent organization representing over 8,400 professionals in film, television, and emerging media, actively champions producers' rights. Its advocacy focuses on areas such as enhanced healthcare benefits, equitable compensation, and greater opportunities for underrepresented groups within the industry.
In addition to the film and television awards, the PGA also presents special honors like the PGA Innovation Award and career achievement accolades. The guild has also released a detailed timeline for the upcoming awards season, outlining key dates for eligibility, nominations, and voting processes for the 2027 ceremony.
