During a scene filmed at the NY State Supreme Court building, Michelle Pfeiffer slipped on ice and began to fall over a railing. Modine quickly reacted, catching her legs and preventing her from hitting the concrete with her head. Pfeiffer, who garnered a Golden Globe nomination for her role in the film, recently discussed her comedic acting.

She shared that while promoting a new Christmas comedy, she confided in director Michael Showalter about her nerves regarding the zany nature of the role. Pfeiffer expressed that she doesn't consider herself naturally funny, and requested the director ensure her performance was humorous. Her co-star Denis Leary countered this, asserting that Pfeiffer has consistently demonstrated comedic talent, even in dramatic roles, citing "Married to the Mob" as a prime example.
