The 31-year-old Saturday Night Live alum has been methodically removing his extensive tattoo collection, which at one point consisted of around 200 pieces of body art. Davidson explains that he has been tackling the removal in order of visibility, starting with his hands, neck, and arms. Currently, he estimates that about 65-70% of the tattoos have been removed, with each one requiring 10 to 12 sessions to fully erase.
Davidson's decision to undergo this extensive tattoo removal process is rooted in his desire to improve his mental health. He admits that the tattoos, which include ink dedicated to his former girlfriends as well as more lighthearted designs, serve as a reminder of a "sad person that was very unsure." By removing them, Davidson hopes to leave that part of his past behind and start fresh.
The comedian acknowledges that the process is a long and arduous one, with each session leaving him unable to do anything for six weeks as his skin heals. However, he remains determined to see it through, aiming to be completely tattoo-free by the end of 2025, when he will be 40 years old.
