A Beatles tribute band from Peru, Los Mapaches, recently experienced a "dream come true" by performing at Liverpool's legendary Cavern Club. This incredible opportunity arose while the band, comprising brothers Piero, Jose, and Fabrizio Rozas, alongside Barrow-born Jevan Turner, was visiting the city as part of their six-date UK tour.
Upon learning of the band's presence and their unfulfilled desire to perform, Jon Keats, director of the Cavern Club, extended an invitation for a Saturday night slot. Jose Rozas expressed that this offer meant "everything" to the band, signifying the culmination of their dedication to The Beatles' music.
Los Mapaches have achieved significant recognition in Peru, succeeding on the talent show 'Yo Soy'. They noted how The Beatles' music resonates deeply with audiences in Peru, even among Spanish speakers who may not understand the lyrics, due to the universal appeal of the sound and delivery.
The band described their arrival in Liverpool, the birthplace of The Beatles, as surreal. Experiencing the city's energy firsthand, beyond just seeing it in videos, made the visit particularly impactful. Performing at the Cavern Club was a long-held aspiration, with the band humorously stating they would "pass out" at the prospect.
Director Jon Keats was impressed by the young band's appearance and musical talent, noting his belief that they deserved a "very good reception" and actively wanting to help them achieve their dream.
