An extended version of the film 'Peddi', starring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, is slated for release in theaters starting June 17. This revised cut aims to address audience criticism concerning the portrayal of Janhvi Kapoor's character, Achiyyamma.
The new version will feature three additional scenes that were not present in the original theatrical release. Director Buchi Babu Sana revealed that two of these scenes are dedicated to further developing Achiyyamma's character, with the belief that they will foster greater audience empathy and connection.
These edits come after the film faced backlash on social media, with viewers expressing concerns that Janhvi's character was objectified and not given sufficient importance. One specific point of contention was a romantic scene depicting a kiss without clear consent.
Following the public outcry, Buchi Babu Sana issued an apology and confirmed that the team was taking the feedback seriously. The extended version will also include an additional scene for the character played by Jagapathi Babu, in addition to the focus on Janhvi's role.
