Filmmaker Buchi Babu Sana has publicly apologized for specific scenes in the recently released film Peddi, starring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor. The apology, issued on June 6, two days after the film's release, came in response to significant audience criticism. Viewers raised concerns about the hypersexualization of Janhvi Kapoor's character and the depiction of women in the movie.

Sana stated on X that cinema should entertain and inspire, not cause discomfort or disrespect. He acknowledged that the feedback regarding scenes and the romantic track, which some felt depicted non-consensual behavior as romance, was taken seriously. The director assured that objectifying or disrespecting any female character was never the intention.

Following a review of the audience's sentiments, the filmmaking team has decided to implement changes in the 'concerned portions' of Peddi. Buchi Babu highlighted the evolving relationship between filmmakers and audiences, recognizing the responsibility of storytellers to be mindful of changing perspectives and sensitivities. He reaffirmed his commitment to respectful representation and celebrating strong characters with dignity.
