Summary
- Film Peddi received a U/A 16+ certificate from the CBFC.
- The makers modified or muted several Telugu words and deleted 'Rajasthan'.
- No visual cuts were imposed; only a middle finger shot was altered.
The Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor starrer, Peddi, has successfully cleared the censor process with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), securing a U/A 16+ rating. The filmmakers submitted the movie for censorship well in advance of its June 4th release date.
The CBFC requested several changes to the original Telugu version of the Pan-India entertainer. Specific Telugu words such as 'Loudesh,' 'Bokka,' and 'M r C**d' were ordered to be muted or modified. Additionally, the word 'Rajasthan' and a reference to a particular community were ordered to be deleted from the second half of the film.
Thankfully, no visual cuts were imposed on Peddi, meaning its action and violent sequences remain intact. The only visual modification required was covering a shot of a middle finger using CG visuals. The censor certificate was issued on May 22nd, confirming the film's runtime of 189 minutes, approximately 3 hours and 9 minutes.
Peddi features a star-studded cast including Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu, and Boman Irani. The film is written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana, with music composed by A.R. Rahman. Jio Studios is handling the North India distribution, and the movie will also be available in IMAX format.
