Pauline Quirke's family fights fake AI dementia images

Pauline Quirke's family has publicly condemned the spread of artificial intelligence-generated images falsely depicting the actress during her ongoing struggle with dementia.

Quirke, known for her role in 'Birds of a Feather,' was diagnosed with dementia in 2021 and has since withdrawn from public life. Her family took to Instagram to express their distress over AI-generated images showing her in vulnerable situations, stressing that her current condition is not public knowledge beyond her close circle.

The family's official statement pleaded for respect for their privacy, urging people to rely solely on confirmed information and to stop the spread of misinformation that causes "unnecessary worry and spread a great deal of sadness."

Pauline's son, Charlie Quirke, previously shared in November that his mother still recognizes her family, smiling and expressing love. Her husband, Steve, and Charlie revealed their initial disbelief at the diagnosis, which can affect individuals in their 40s and 50s, not just older people.

Co-star Linda Robson last met Quirke several weeks ago and described her as "happy" and "laughing," praising the family for their excellent care.
