McCartney's Rock Hall Resentment Revealed
3 Mar
Summary
- McCartney felt John Lennon's solo induction was unfair.
- He was promised an induction but it was delayed.
- McCartney helped induct Ringo Starr years later.

A recently published interview reveals Paul McCartney's past frustrations with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction process. McCartney expressed resentment over John Lennon being inducted as a solo artist before him, noting their collaborative history was always an equal partnership.
He recounted being asked to induct Lennon in 1994 but feeling overlooked himself. McCartney stated that both Jann Wenner, the former editor-in-chief of Rolling Stone, and Yoko Ono contributed to a narrative that diminished his role in The Beatles. He was promised a solo induction the following year, but this did not happen until 1999.
McCartney later supported the inductions of George Harrison and Ringo Starr, the latter of whom he helped campaign for. He reflected that while he eventually received his due recognition, it was later than promised, likening the experience to a broken verbal contract.
