Dempsey Stands By Dane Through ALS Battle

Patrick Dempsey has affirmed his strong bond with former Grey's Anatomy colleague Eric Dane, who revealed his diagnosis of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in May of last year. Dempsey stated that he has been in communication with Dane, exchanging texts and even exploring the possibility of Dane appearing in his new crime thriller series, "Memory of a Killer."

Unfortunately, the progression of Dane's illness made his participation in "Memory of a Killer" unfeasible. However, Dempsey noted Dane's recent guest appearance on the NBC medical drama "Brilliant Minds" in November, where Dane portrayed a firefighter grappling with an ALS diagnosis. Dempsey expressed deep admiration for Dane's resilience, commending his courage and the positive way he is utilizing his public platform.

Dempsey described Dane as an exceptional individual with a remarkable sense of humor and sharp intellect. He reflected on their enjoyable past collaborations and acknowledged the heartbreaking nature of Dane's diagnosis and its rapid impact on the body, extending empathy to Dane and his family.

Dane, who has been candid about the challenges of living with the progressive neurodegenerative disease, previously shared feelings of despair but has since found renewed hope. He is actively involved as an ambassador for I AM ALS, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for the condition.
