From April 10-19, 2026, Parrtjima will transform Mparntwe (Alice Springs) into a vibrant hub celebrating Aboriginal culture. This free, 10-night event features a rich program including live music, light installations, films, talks, and workshops. The 2026 theme, 'Language,' emphasizes its significance in carrying knowledge, identity, and cultural continuity.
Parrtjima, meaning 'to shine a light,' utilizes technology to bring ancient stories to life. The festival will present returning installations alongside new works inspired by the theme of language, exploring connections to place and people.
Opening weekend highlights include a traditional welcome ceremony, performances by Electric Fields, 3%, Emma Donovan, and others. Local Arrernte performances and night markets featuring Aboriginal businesses will also be part of the festivities.
