The project is a collaboration between Tabernacle Street Films and Unscripted Co.
Directed and written by Shrimoyee Chakraborty, "The Music Teacher" is inspired by her mother and set in North Kolkata. The narrative centers on a young man overcoming depression with the guidance of a Rabindra Sangeet teacher. The film is envisioned as an ode to Rabindra Sangeet and the cultural preservation efforts of educators.
Raima Sen leads the cast in the titular role, accompanied by Niranjan Mondal. Mittra expressed her vision for Unscripted Co. to champion deeply rooted and emotionally resonant stories. Shrimoyee Chakraborty described the film as a personal tribute to her mother, Rabindra Sangeet, and Kolkata. Aarti Bajaj, known for her editing work, joins as a co-producer, viewing production as a natural extension of her career.
