Summary
- Upcoming film 'The Taj Story' stirs debate over its portrayal of the Taj Mahal
- Poster shows Paresh Rawal holding the Taj Mahal, revealing a Lord Shiva idol inside
- Makers insist the film focuses solely on historical facts, not religious matters

In late September 2025, Paresh Rawal's upcoming film 'The Taj Story' has been the subject of intense debate online. The film, written and directed by Tushar Amrish Goel, stars Rawal alongside Zakir Hussain, Amruta Khanvilkar, Sneha Wagh, and Namit Das.
The controversy began when the film's latest poster was released, showing Paresh Rawal holding the top of the Taj Mahal and revealing a Lord Shiva idol inside. Many reacted online, questioning the theme of the film and its intent. Rawal had initially shared the poster on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, but the post was later deleted.
In response, Rawal issued a statement on behalf of the makers, Swarnim Global Services Pvt. Ltd. He clarified that the movie does not deal with any religious matters and does not claim that a Shiv temple resides within the Taj Mahal. The makers stated that the film focuses solely on historical facts and requested the audience to watch the film and form their own opinion.
The teaser, released in August, had already set a serious tone for the film, featuring a gripping courtroom scene with Rawal arguing passionately about the intellectual erasure of an entire community. 'The Taj Story' is scheduled to be released in cinemas on October 31, 2025.
