Veteran Actor Paresh Rawal Exposes Lobbying in National Awards

In a recent interview, acclaimed actor Paresh Rawal, who won the National Award in 1993, has shed light on the influence of lobbying in award circuits, including India's prestigious National Awards. Rawal shared that while the National Awards are more reputed than other accolades, there is still some degree of lobbying involved, though not as much as in other award shows.

The veteran actor further emphasized that this phenomenon is not limited to India, as lobbying also takes place at the Oscars and other global awards. Rawal explained that such lobbying often involves influence, networking, and extravagant parties where filmmakers try to sway jury members.

Despite his own National Award win, Rawal stressed that true recognition for him comes from the genuine appreciation of his directors and writers, rather than trophies or titles. He believes that the urge for awards should not be the primary motivation for actors, and that they should focus on delivering their best performances.
