Artist Paresh Maity's new solo exhibition, 'Luminous Terrains,' celebrates the profound beauty of landscapes, drawing inspiration from the Impressionist movement's embrace of the outdoors. This exhibition, presented by Art Alive Gallery at Bikaner House, features Maity's dedication to capturing natural light and atmosphere.
The collection showcases a variety of scenes, from Dal Lake in Srinagar and the ghats of Varanasi to the deserts of Rajasthan, the lagoons of Venice, and the French Riviera. Maity's return to a landscape-focused theme reflects his upbringing in the scenic town of Tamluk, West Bengal.
A significant highlight of 'Luminous Terrains' is the unveiling of a colossal 45-foot-wide Mahakumbh triptych. Alongside the exhibition, Art Alive Gallery will also launch a publication on Maity, featuring essays by historian Partha Mitter and art critic Kishore Singh, ensuring the artist's legacy extends beyond the show's duration.
'Luminous Terrains' is accessible to the public until March 10 at the Centre for Contemporary Art in Bikaner House. This exhibition marks a significant moment for contemporary Indian art, focusing on the enduring connection between artists and the natural world.
