Elaine Hendrix, the 54-year-old actress best known for her role in the 1998 film 'The Parent Trap', is proving her resilience by competing on the current season of 'Dancing with the Stars'. Hendrix was forced to pivot her career from classical dancing to acting after being hit by a car while riding a bike in Los Angeles in 1992.
Despite the lasting effects of that serious accident, Hendrix is determined to make the most of her 'Dancing with the Stars' experience. "It's a roller coaster because I have very real injuries, sustained from a very serious accident and other things that happened in life," she tells PEOPLE. "So I have good days, and I have challenging days. The thing that we focus on is to do whatever I need to do to make sure show day is a good day."
Hendrix and her dance partner, Alan Bersten, have impressed the judges with their fast-paced jive and electric cha-cha-cha performances. Bersten has praised Hendrix's strong work ethic, noting that she continues to prioritize recovery and physical therapy even after their grueling rehearsals. "Elaine has definitely surpassed all expectations I've had already," Bersten says. "She's gonna surprise a lot of people."
