Broadway is preparing to welcome the stage adaptation of the renowned horror franchise, 'Paranormal Activity.' This production, which has garnered significant acclaim with sold-out engagements in London's West End and across the United States, will commence its strictly limited 20-week run on August 14. The show will be staged at the August Wilson Theatre, with its official opening scheduled for September 15.
The theatrical reimagining of 'Paranormal Activity' deviates from the film's narrative by introducing an entirely new couple, James and Lou, who relocate to London seeking to escape their past. The story promises to explore the chilling premise that "places aren't haunted, people are..." The production's creative team includes writer Levi Holloway and director Felix Barrett, known for their immersive theatrical work.
Prior to its Broadway premiere, the production will undergo a pre-Broadway engagement in Boston from July 11 to July 30. The show's journey has included critically acclaimed runs at Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles, Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington D.C., and American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. It initially premiered at the Leeds Playhouse in the UK, subsequently transferring to London's Ambassadors Theatre.
Jason Blum, the founder and CEO of Blumhouse and original producer of the film franchise, is part of the Broadway producing team. This theatrical venture aims to expand the 'Paranormal Activity' universe, blending signature suspense with the unique intensity of live performance. A new film installment from Blumhouse-Atomic Monster is slated for May 2027.
