Paramount Pictures has announced the promotion of 18-year company veteran Ricardo Cortes to the role of Executive Vice President, International Theatrical Distribution and Head of Latin America. The news was shared by Mark Viane, President of International Theatrical Distribution, in an internal email to his team.
Effective immediately, Cortes will take on expanded responsibilities overseeing Paramount's theatrical distribution strategy across offshore markets, while continuing to lead the studio's operations throughout Latin America. Most recently, Cortes served as the company's Senior Vice President of Latin America Distribution & Marketing, and Managing Director for Mexico.
Cortes first joined Paramount in 2007 and has played a crucial role in the studio's international success, working on major regional launches for blockbuster franchises like Sonic the Hedgehog, Mission: Impossible, and Transformers. Prior to Paramount, he began his career at United International Pictures (UIP) in 2003 as Sales Manager for Latin America and the Caribbean.
"Ricardo has been an integral and indispensable part of our international team for nearly two decades. His leadership, expertise, and deep relationships in the region have been instrumental to Paramount's success, and I have full confidence that he will excel in this new role," said Viane in his note to staff.
Paramount's upcoming release slate includes Miramax's Roofman, directed by Derek Cianfrance and starring Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst.
