Paramount+ is expanding its British content slate with a new heist thriller series, currently working under the title 'The Day.' This eight-part series is a co-production between Dynamic Television and Clapperboard Studios and is based on the Belgian show 'De Dag.'
Set entirely within a single 24-hour period, 'The Day' centers on a tense bank siege. The narrative initially follows police efforts, spearheaded by hostage negotiator Sylvia 'Vox' Voxley, played by Minnie Driver, as they attempt to resolve the crisis. The story then shifts, rewinding to showcase the same events from the viewpoints of the robbers and their hostages inside the bank.
Each episode dynamically alternates between the unfolding police operation and the events within the barricaded bank. This structural choice serves to constantly reframe the truth and deepen the central mystery, building towards a climactic finale where all elements of the story converge.
