Paramount Pictures Nabs Horror Hit 'Final Girl'

Paramount Pictures is developing a feature film based on Grady Hendrix's New York Times bestseller, "The Final Girl Support Group." The project will be adapted and directed by Christopher Landon, a filmmaker recognized for his work on the "Paranormal Activity" franchise and "Happy Death Day."

This adaptation reteams Landon with Hendrix, following their previous collaboration on "My Best Friend's Exorcism." The novel, which won the Goodreads Choice Award for Best Horror Novel in 2021, centers on a Los Angeles-based support group for six 'final girls.'

These survivors are women who escaped mass-murderer rampages, their stories having inspired the slasher films prevalent in the 1980s and '90s. Hendrix will also serve as an executive producer on the film.

Previously, the project was envisioned as a series for HBO Max with producers Andy and Barbara Muschietti. While Charlize Theron is no longer attached, the Muschiettis and Adam Goldworm continue to produce through their respective labels.
