The popular ABC comedy series Shifting Gears, led by veteran actor Tim Allen, has added a notable guest star for an upcoming holiday-themed episode. Acclaimed comedian and actress Pamela Adlon has been cast in the role of Gabriel's (played by Seann William Scott) opinionated single mother.
The episode, titled "Nutcracker," is scheduled to air on December 10 and will feature several storylines as the Parker family navigates the holiday season. In addition to Adlon's guest appearance, the episode will also see Matt (Allen) and Eve (Jenna Elfman) facing relationship challenges, Gabe enlisting Riley (Kat Dennings) to help Amelie (Carson Fagerbakke) impress his mother, and Carter (Maxwell Simkins) seeking help with a "promposal."
Shifting Gears has been enjoying a strong second season, with the October 1 premiere drawing 7.57 million cross-platform viewers over its first seven days. The show is currently averaging just under 4 million viewers for its initial airings on the network.
Adlon, who is known for her Emmy-winning voice work on the Hulu series King of the Hill, has also recently appeared in live-action roles on shows like Hulu's Mid-Century Modern and History of the World Part II, as well as CBS' Elsbeth.
