Set against the backdrop of 1960s Palm Beach, 'Palm Royale' on Apple TV+ plunges into the exclusive world of high society, following the ambitious Maxine Dellacorte-Simmons, portrayed by Kristen Wiig. Maxine's relentless pursuit of status involves cunningly using her aunt's fortune to gain entry into Palm Beach's elite circles, targeting the prestigious Palm Royale country club.
Despite its Florida setting, the production team recreated the resort destination using visual effects and primarily filmed on sound stages and in Los Angeles locations. Executive producer Tate Taylor drew inspiration from his own experience being denied access to a Palm Beach club, reinforcing the community's exclusive nature. The series adapts Juliet McDaniel's 2018 novel, 'Mr. & Mrs. American Pie.'
The ensemble cast features Laura Dern as a feminist activist, Kaia Gerber as an aspiring model, and Allison Janney as a skeptical socialite. Ricky Martin also stars as a caretaker with a hidden past. Available on Apple TV+, 'Palm Royale' offers a satirical look at ambition, wealth, and the lengths one will go to achieve acceptance.
