David Oyelowo & Nate Parker Film Bows on AMC

David Oyelowo and Nate Parker are launching their new film, "Newborn," with an exclusive theatrical release on April 10th through AMC Theatres. Oyelowo stars in the dystopian psychological thriller as Chris Newborn, a man striving to rebuild his life and family connections after enduring seven years of solitary confinement, only to find his freedom a challenging psychological battleground. Parker directed and produced the film, with Oyelowo also producing through their joint venture, Mansa Studios. The film's journey to the screen faced several hurdles, including production delays in 2020 and the financial bankruptcy of its financier, Bron, in 2023.

Additional cast members include Olivia Washington and Barry Pepper. Mansa Studios recently secured $12 million in seed funding, led by MaC Venture Capital, for its distribution goals. Oyelowo expressed enthusiasm for the partnership with AMC, highlighting their understanding of a direct-to-consumer approach and the immersive audience experience sought. Parker emphasized the importance of experiencing the emotionally charged thriller together on a large scale, which AMC provides.
