Summary
- Film earned $1.4 million in its opening weekend, placing tenth.
- Needs $25.1 million to enter the top five highest-grossing horror films.
- Features Jason Segel and Samara Weaving in a suspenseful thriller.
Over Your Dead Body, starring Jason Segel and Samara Weaving, opened in U.S. theaters on April 24, 2026. Directed by Jorma Taccone, the action-comedy horror earned approximately $1.4 million across North America during its opening weekend, securing the tenth position at the domestic box office.
The film faces significant competition from major releases like Michael and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. To achieve a top five ranking among 2026's highest-grossing horror films domestically, Over Your Dead Body must exceed the $25.1 million earned by 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple.
With its current earnings and competitive market, reaching this financial milestone appears challenging. The movie's plot centers on a couple attempting to mend their relationship in a secluded cabin, unaware of each other's murderous intentions. The final box office performance is expected to become clearer in the coming weeks.
