- Upcoming films launching on Thanksgiving and Christmas impact the awards race.
The conclusion of the New York Film Festival and London Film Festival marks the end of major festival world premieres for the year. Among the premieres, Neon's acquisition 'Artificial' emerged as a strong Best Picture contender, while Laika's 'Wildwood' impressed audiences for Best Animated Feature.
While smaller regional festivals continue, they primarily showcase films that have already premiered elsewhere. These Thanksgiving and Christmas releases are strategically timed to remain prominent in voters' minds as ballots are cast.
