7 Oct
Summary
- Laboon the whale arrives in One Piece live-action series
- Actor Taz Skylar (Sanji) describes building a life-sized Laboon set
- Crocus, played by Clive Russell, introduced as Laboon's caretaker

As the One Piece live-action series prepares to launch its second season, titled "Into the Grand Line," the production has unveiled a first look at the massive whale Laboon. According to actor Taz Skylar, who plays the role of Straw Hats chef Sanji, the team went to great lengths to bring Laboon to life on set.
"They built a whale!" Skylar exclaims, describing how the production repurposed their largest boat set, the size of a cruise ship, to create the interior of Laboon. The set featured a fully realized stomach, complete with shipwrecks and even stomach acid at the bottom. Skylar notes that the whale was "the size of a monster, dinosaur whale -- like a megalodon whale. Huge whale."
Joining the Straw Hats on their journey into the treacherous Grand Line is Crocus, a doctor based out of the Twin Cape Lighthouse, played by Clive Russell, known for his role as Brynden "Blackfish" Tully on Game of Thrones. Skylar describes Laboon as a "Big Friendly" creature, with the actor unsure whether the whale is "playful and mischievous" or simply has a "fish brain" and doesn't remember.
The second season of the One Piece live-action series is set to premiere on Netflix in 2026, with a third season already greenlit. As the Straw Hats venture into the uncharted waters of the Grand Line, fans can expect to see the crew face new challenges and encounter more iconic characters from the beloved manga.
