Netflix's live-action adaptation of One Piece, now in its second season released on March 10, 2026, captures iconic scenes with impressive visual fidelity. The series efficiently adapts the anime's extensive material, covering 91 anime episodes within just 16 live-action episodes across two seasons.

However, a noticeable difference emerges for long-time anime fans. The live-action series, while retaining beloved characters and their core traits, presents a different emotional resonance. This stems partly from the necessity of cutting many impactful scenes to maintain a tight screenplay, a compromise that diminishes character development moments.

Key adjustments include character portrayals, such as Sanji minimizing his smoking and Zoro exhibiting a more brooding nature earlier than in the anime. Usopp's character-defining nose is also notably absent. These changes, alongside the streamlined storytelling, result in characters feeling more grounded and less idealistic than the anime's endearing, quirky versions.

Despite these departures, the live-action adaptation is praised for its high production quality and faithfulness to the source material's world.
