The capital city is making final preparations for the Onam Tourism Week, a celebration organized by the tourism department. Chief Minister V D Satheesan will inaugurate the festivities at Nishagandhi Auditorium on Monday at 5:30 PM. The event promises a full week of cultural programs and festivities across Thiruvananthapuram.
Over 340 cultural programs are scheduled to take place at 35 different venues until August 30th. These performances will involve around 3,000 artists, showcasing Kerala's diverse culture, traditions, and artistic heritage. Traditional and folk art forms will be a special focus, with daily performances from 6 PM to 9 PM.
Kanakakkunnu festival area will feature four zones: business, future, art and culture, and food, offering interactive and experiential programs. Visitors can engage in learning sessions for art forms like Kathakali makeup and Chendamelam. The week will culminate in a grand Onam procession involving 62 government departments and over 100 art forms.
