Savannah Guthrie will be absent from NBC's coverage of the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics, which are scheduled to begin on February 6, 2026. The decision comes as Guthrie's mother, Nancy Guthrie, is missing. Mary Carillo, a distinguished NBC Sports analyst and former professional tennis player, will replace Guthrie in hosting the opening ceremony coverage alongside Terry Gannon.
Carillo, who previously lived in Milan for two years, has extensive experience, having hosted 14 Olympic Games for NBC. She also won the 1977 French Open mixed doubles title. In a separate change, Craig Melvin, who was slated to host Olympic Late Night, will also remain in the United States. Ahmed Fareed will now host the Olympic Late Night segment, a role he will transition into before heading to Los Angeles for NBA All-Star Weekend.
