Olivia Rodrigo Addresses Taylor Swift Speculation

Singer Olivia Rodrigo recently addressed persistent online speculation regarding potential tension between herself and Taylor Swift. During an appearance on the New York Times' "Popcast" podcast in late May 2026, Rodrigo, 23, commented that she tries to dismiss such rumors.

She expressed that there is "no use in harping on" past issues and that her focus remains on creating music she loves and being supportive of others. Rodrigo has always been open about her admiration for Swift, but rumors of a rift surfaced after her 2021 debut album, "Sour."

This speculation intensified due to retroactive songwriting credits. Swift received credit for Rodrigo's song "1 Step Forward, 3 Steps Back," and later for "Deja Vu" after similarities to Swift's "Cruel Summer" were noted. Additionally, Rodrigo retroactively added Paramore's Hayley Williams and Josh Farro as songwriters on "Good 4 U" following comparisons to their song "Misery Business."

It has been reported that Rodrigo relinquished millions in royalties due to these added songwriting credits. Despite these instances, Rodrigo has previously stated she has "no beef with anyone" in the music industry, preferring to keep to herself and focusing on alien conspiracy theories over Twitter ones.
