Lifetime Korea is set to launch its new series, Oh! My Guard, next month, with A+E Global Media backing its international distribution. The romantic drama, featuring K-pop star Jung Yong-hwa and rising actress Hong Seung-hee, has already secured licensing deals in 83 countries, including a notable acquisition by Asian streamer Viu.
Oh! My Guard chronicles the story of Um Tae-bong, a melodramatic actor harboring a significant secret, and a woman who, post-accident, becomes convinced she is the protagonist of his real-life drama. This premise sets the stage for a captivating and unpredictable romantic narrative.
A+E Global Media highlighted the series' appeal, citing its blend of nuanced Korean drama storytelling, engaging romantic comedy pacing, and the international draw of Korean actors and K-pop personalities. Jung Yong-hwa's established following from CNBLUE and Hong Seung-hee's previous roles contribute to the show's global potential. The series is penned by Byun Sang-soon and co-directed by Yoon Jong-ho, known for his recent hit K-drama Lovely Runner.
