Odyssey TV Show Adapts Epic Tale for Bronze Age

A new television series adaptation of Homer's epic, The Odyssey, is currently in development. Tentatively titled Odysseus, the show is a joint venture involving Greek distributor Tanweer and U.S. companies Tectonic and USATV.
This adaptation aims to present a "visceral, and muscular" take on the story, focusing on the "real Bronze Age world of blood, ships, betrayal, and characters trying to survive." Showrunner Karl Gajdusek described the approach as "grounded and realpolitik," highlighting the effort to depict the flesh-and-blood characters and their true story behind the myth.
Filming for the series is planned to take place on location in Greece and Armenia starting early next year. The adaptation's launch may also benefit from the recent release of Christopher Nolan's film, The Odyssey.
