Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' maintained its dominant position at the South Korea box office during the weekend of Aug. 21-23. The film earned $10.6 million from over 1.3 million admissions, capturing 66.3% of the total weekend business. This marks its third consecutive week at the top.
In its fourth weekend, 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' secured the second spot, earning $2.9 million and pushing its total cumulative gross to $61.4 million from over 8.1 million admissions. The newly released horror film, 'Insidious: Out of the Further,' opened in third place, generating $547,555.
Other films in the top ten included the animated features 'Teenieping: Legend of the Whale Heartstone' and 'Detective Conan the Movie: Fallen Angel of the Highway.' Local action-comedy 'Ok! Madam: Bon Voyage' and 'Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie' also saw significant admissions. Sci-fi thriller 'Hope' and a re-release of Studio Ghibli's 'The Secret World of Arrietty' rounded out the higher rankings. The total box office revenue for the weekend was $16.1 million.
