Odisha's rich artistic landscape was celebrated as Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj presented the Kabi Samrat Upendra Bhanja award to six prominent figures on Wednesday. The accolades spanned achievements from 2025, 2024, and 2023, underscoring a consistent commitment to recognizing artistic merit.
For the current year, the award recognized musician Ghanashyam Panda and folk dance exponent Bhagabat Pradhan. The previous year's honors went to flautist Mohini Mohan Patnaik and Odissi dancer Sudhakar Sahu, while singer Pranab Kishore Patnaik and 'Moghul Tamsha' performer Badal Sikdar received awards for 2023.
Beyond the highest honors, the ceremony also bestowed the Upayana and Kabichandra Kalicharan Yuva Prativa Puraskar, further acknowledging emerging talents. In total, 134 artists were felicitated, highlighting the vibrant and diverse cultural ecosystem of the state.
