Orange County Drum & Percussion (OCDP), a brand synonymous with alternative rock drumming, is making a significant nationwide comeback through Guitar Center. Adrian Young, drummer for No Doubt and an early endorsee and partner of OCDP, is leading this relaunch 35 years after the company's founding.
This expansion marks a departure from OCDP's boutique origins, where customers visited a warehouse to place orders. Now, the drums will be accessible in every Guitar Center, allowing customers to experience them firsthand. Young expressed confidence in the quality of the mass-produced line, stating it is "really, really good."
The relaunch includes a special orange sparkle snare, a nod to the drums Young used during No Doubt's 'Tragic Kingdom' tour in 1997. The original orange sparkle kit will also be displayed at a pop-up store during No Doubt's upcoming shows.
No Doubt is preparing for an 18-date engagement at the technologically advanced Sphere venue, starting May 6. These shows will be highly immersive, drawing inspiration from the 'Tragic Kingdom' album's music and aesthetic. Young described the Sphere experience as "on steroids" due to its unparalleled sound and visuals.
Young also shared details about his personal connection to drumming, recalling buying his first affordable kit at a Guitar Center store in the late eighties, which he used to audition for No Doubt.
