Obamas Back Broadway Play 'Proof' Revival

Higher Ground, the production company founded by the Obamas, is expanding its reach into theater by joining the team behind a Broadway revival of the play 'Proof'. Performances are set to begin March 31 at the Booth Theatre, with an official opening night on April 16. This strictly limited 16-week engagement brings a new creative vision to the stage.

Ayo Edebiri and Don Cheadle are slated to make their Broadway debuts in this production. Edebiri will portray Catherine, the daughter of a renowned mathematics professor, played by Cheadle. The narrative unfolds after the professor's death when a crucial notebook is discovered, sparking debate over its authorship and forcing Catherine to confront her own legacy and the need to establish her worth.

This theatrical venture represents a significant step for Higher Ground, which has previously garnered acclaim for its work in film, television, and podcasting, securing multiple Academy Award, Emmy, and Grammy wins. The production team, including producers Mike Bosner and director Thomas Kail, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting the Obamas' passion for storytelling and community building as a perfect fit for 'Proof'.
